 Gál Huszár
(1512?-1575, lutheran pastor)

He studied in Krakow. As a parson of Vízkelet was excommunicated  by the Roman Catholic Church. The catholic counter-reformation expelled him several times from  the places pertaining to his service. He functioned  in Magyaróvár, Kassa, Debrecen, Nagyszombat, Komárom, Rózsavölgy, Komjáti, and Pápa.

He put his life-work to the service of reformation. He taught and established a printing  house: apart from his works (sermons, chants) he issued also the works of Mihály Sztárai, Péter Méliusz Juhász, Péter Bornemissza.

He redacted the first complete hymnal (1560) in Hungarian, which became a hymnic source for the Protestant hymnals.

His two-volume  gradual is the main source of the Hungarian  melody  treasure, and he is the establisher of the Lutheran liturgy.

The edition can be found in Budapest (OSZK) and  Eperjes today: Prešov, Slovakia..
